Some clients come to us with a general idea of what they like. Others arrive with a very specific vision already in mind.
That was certainly the case with this suit. From the very first conversation, it was clear that the inspiration did not come from contemporary menswear, but from the classic tailoring traditions of the 1920s and 1930s.
The goal was not to recreate a historical costume, but to create a bespoke suit that captured the elegance, proportions, and character of that era while remaining entirely personal to the wearer.
Classic Details Rarely Seen Today
The jacket was made as a 3-roll-2, featuring a low gorge and just two buttons on the sleeve. These are details that were once quite common but have become increasingly rare in modern tailoring.
The trousers continue the same approach. They feature a button fly and double outward-facing pleats, creating a silhouette that feels distinctly different from most contemporary trousers.
Individually, these details may seem subtle. Together, they give the suit a strong and unmistakable identity.
Bespoke Tailoring Starts With the Person
What makes this project particularly interesting is not just the finished garment, but the process behind it.
This client knew exactly what he was looking for. Rather than selecting from what is commonly available in stores, he wanted a suit built around specific stylistic preferences and historical references.
That is one of the great advantages of bespoke tailoring. The process starts with the individual, not with current trends.
Can You Make Something Similar?
It is a question we hear regularly.
Many clients arrive with inspiration photos, references from classic films, historical tailoring books, or garments they have admired for years.
Bespoke tailoring makes it possible to translate those ideas into something that is personal, wearable, and made specifically for the individual.
The objective is not to copy something that already exists, but to create a garment that reflects the wearer's own taste and preferences.
From Inspiration to a Personal Suit
This project is a great example of what can happen when a client has a clear vision and the freedom to develop it without the limitations of ready-to-wear clothing.
Whether the inspiration comes from classic tailoring, vintage menswear, or a particular period in history, the starting point remains the same: creating a garment that feels authentic to the person wearing it.
And that is what bespoke tailoring is ultimately about.
