Bespoke Wedding Suit - Charcoal Puppytooth (Holland & Sherry)

Why this jacket was made this way

This client approached us with a familiar request: “A suit I can wear for my wedding, but also continue wearing afterwards.” This is often followed by the comment that it should not be navy, because it still needs to suit the wedding. In this case, the wedding will take place in Australia, in a wooded setting where temperatures are not too high.

Colour is not our only consideration here. Other factors are just as important, and perhaps even more so. It needs to be right the first time, and the client has no point of reference because he never wears a suit. We therefore started by sending him an intake form. Once we had received and reviewed it, we scheduled an initial consultation to get to know each other better.

We ultimately found the right balance with one of our most frequently used cloths, a 370 gram worsted wool from Holland & Sherry’s InterCity collection. These cloths have weight and drape beautifully, helping to create an impeccable fit. The merino wool makes them breathable, while the finish gives them a classic, polished appearance.

Keeping the pattern very small, a puppytooth, gives the cloth life without making it too conspicuous, so it is easy to combine with other pieces. The details only become apparent up close. An approach that reflects the client’s specific brief.
